Mission for Area People

Mission for Area People 501(c)(3) is a non-profit organization committed to serving persons in Muskegon County. We host services and programs centered on meeting emergency needs and facilitating education to empower our neighbors for self-sufficiency. MAP was originally inspired by area Methodist churches in 1967. Today, more than 50 West Michigan churches, service organizations and businesses support MAP through volunteers, in-kind donations, and monetary gifts.

Emergency Medical and Dental Fund

Emergency Medical and Dental Fund: Mission for Area People’s Medical and Dental Fund provides prescriptions, durable medical equipment, dental work, transportation and other unmet medical needs to approximately 350 people per year. The fund is meant to provide limited financial assistance for emergency situations where no other funding sources are secured.

Healthy Choice Food Pantry: In the MAP Healthy Choice Food Pantry, our goal is to meet the nutritional needs of individuals and families by providing a variety of healthy food options, such as lean protein meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, low fat dairy, whole grain cereal and breads as well as special food for people suffering from Celiac disease. We also have personal care and infant items.
Other Services: Clothing/Household Pantry, Thanksgiving baskets, Holiday Toys, Back to School supplies, Rental Assistance to prevent eviction (as funding allows) and other emergency funds (as funding allows).
